The Evolution Of Trust:on The Perspective Of Complexity

For the phenomenon of "trust evolution",predecessors have studied the phenomenon,its causes,and results from the perspectives of psychology,sociology and so on.However,the process of trust evolution,from the interpersonal trust to institutional trust and then to blockchain trust,is nonlinear and complex.Therefore,it is necessary to reinterpret the evolution of trust and its derivative problems from the perspective of complexity.There are three advantages of this approach: it is helpful to grasp the dual nature of trust,understand the conditions,mechanism and direction of trust evolution more accurately,and understand and more comprehensively respond to three problem which are trust crisis,replacement and control.In the paper,the characteristics,conditions,mechanism,and direction of trust evolution will be discussed from the perspective of complexity.And then,it will analyze three problems including trust crisis,substitution,and control caused by the evolution of trust.Through these studies and analysis,this paper concludes that trust evolution has the characteristics of openness,dynamic,random and nonlinear.Besides,trust evolution is not random,and it needs to satisfy four conditions: Openness,distance from equilibrium,nonlinearity and synergy,which are dominated by dissipation / fluctuation,feedback and emergence.In terms of direction,trust evolution mainly involves two dimensions: Time and progressive degradation.In terms of time,trust evolution is irreversible and unpredictable.However,whether trust develop as an evolution or a degradation depends on the criteria used.Different criteria lead to different conclusions.Regarding the trust crisis,this article believes that it is not an accidental phenomenon,but an inevitable one,which occurred in the past and will continue to occur in the future.The crisis of trust doesn’t just have a negative impact,it also has a positive effect.As for the substitution of trust,from the perspectives of historical law,dual value and system stability,it can be judged that interpersonal trust,institutional trust and blockchain trust are not replaced each other,but coexist.Controllability shows that it is difficult to control the evolution of trust macroscopically and globally,but we can change the structure of trust in a micro level to influence its evolution by keeping the trust system open and adding artificial factors.
