The Ontology And Characteristics Of WeMaps From The Perspective Of Postmodern Environmental Philosophy

With the increasing scope of human understanding of the environment,the map for understanding the environment is also constantly developing and changing.In this process,whether the relationship between human and resources and environment is the confrontation between subject and object,or more close to the objective relationship of "Unity of Heaven and humanity in One",this is the problem that environmental maps have to face.Because the former corresponds to Western rational values,believing that humans are the masters of all things and the natural environment is their servant.Under this ideology,people destroy the ecological environment for material enjoyment and wealth possession.The latter corresponds to postmodern philosophical ideas that oppose Western rationality,believing that humans are people living in the natural environment.In practice,humans create a humanized world,transform nature,and are equal to the natural environment.Under these two kinds of Environmental philosophy,the environmental maps presented by the same geographical environment are also quite different.The former is a scientific and rational expression of traditional environmental maps,such as the distribution map of snow leopard activities,while the latter is a map containing human sensibility,such as the Activity diagram of ants moving outside the residential area.The environmental protection map based on Personal media is developed under the influence of post-modern Environmental philosophy,and its influence and radiation scope have gradually exceeded the authoritative professional environmental protection map.Wemap is an environmental protection public map produced and distributed by Personal media.Its main difference from traditional maps is that cartographers turn from map experts to public users,and map communication turns from authoritative organizations to Personal media.From the perspective of Environmental philosophy,Wemap emphasizes the expression of people’s irrational and objective environmental space knowledge,which is closer to the research category of post-modern Cartography.Taking the theory of Cartography as the research object,this paper analyzes the history of philosophy,the history of maps and the development of Cartography paradigm,and gives Marx an understanding of Historical materialism on the historical inevitability of the existence of the post-modern Environmental philosophy ontology of Wemaps.On this basis,it uses post-modern Cognitive linguistics for reference to explore the characteristics of the environmental expression of Wemaps.The main innovative work is as follows:(1)Using the Philosophical Thought of Cultural Crisis Theory to Explain the Crisis of Cartography and the Emergence of Postmodern Environmental MapFrom the development process of Environmental philosophy history and map history,we further understand the interdependence between culture and Cartography,draw on the philosophical analysis method of cultural crisis,deduce the Cartography crisis caused by cultural crisis from the philosophical level,and then understand the crisis in the development of Kuhn’s scientific paradigm from another angle,which is embodied in the Cartography crisis implied in the four paradigm tendencies of modern Cartography,namely,the positivism of maps The strengthening of rational elements and the weakening of human sensibility and artistry.Under the interpretation of Marx’s Historical materialism Environmental philosophy,post-modern maps have become an inevitable product of the crisis of Cartography.(2)Criticize Cartography and post representational Cartography with the analysis of Marxist Historical materialism Environmental philosophyCritical Cartography focuses on building environmental maps with Sociological theory.In the past,the criticism of Cartography was limited to the extreme method of transforming maps from the expression of natural science to social construction,and did not fundamentally analyze the limitations of criticism of Cartography.According to Marx’s Historical materialism Environmental philosophy,because the power(non neutrality)of the map in the criticism of Cartography is limited to social objects,he can only build maps in social theory.Under the thought of Historical materialism,the non neutrality of maps has been fully implemented,not only in the expression of social environment,but also in the expression of natural environment.Post representational Cartography proposes that map is practice,and understands practice as the practical application of map.They understand the ontology of maps as the natural presentation of the state of use of maps,which is actually the application of Husserl’s phenomenological principles of contemporary philosophy,in line with the view of Historical materialism Environmental philosophy that "life determines consciousness".The limitation of this "application practice" view is that it is not enough to just present this state,but also needs to analyze their practicality,that is,in the process of application of public environmental maps,The power generated to change the way users interact is reflected in the attempt of Wemaps to change the authoritative central position of traditional environmental mapping and dissemination.(3)Constructing the Conceptual Model of Environmental Wemap Features with the Characteristics of Postmodern Cognitive linguisticsOn the basis of understanding the characteristics of postmodern Cartography,drawing on the methodology of postmodern philosophy Cognitive linguistics,this paper constructs a feature model of environmental Wemaps with the characteristics of Cognitive linguistics,proposes the cognitive process and cognitive hierarchy of We-maps based on the experience of humanism,the information classification of We maps based on the prototype category view,and the personalized expression of We-maps based on the decentralization theory.It is found that the characteristics of perceptual practice in post-modern Cartography can be further understood as the cognitive experience view and decentralization of environmental Wemap.The characteristics of environmental Wemap enrich and expand the characteristics of post-modern maps.In order to prove the prototype categorization of Wemaps,the limitations of classical categorization of traditional maps in Map projection,map content,map data model,map spatial relationship,map time,map scale and map design are further elaborated.The paper combines the development of Environmental philosophy,culture,map history,and Cartography paradigm to get a glimpse of the existence and characteristics of post-modern ontology of environmental Wemaps.However,the evidence for the categorization characteristics of the prototype of Wemaps is not detailed and accurate enough.The hidden Cartography crisis in the Logical positivism modern Cartography paradigm still needs further exploration.The paper is the mapping of the public in understanding and protecting the environment in the era of Personal media,Provides a philosophical level of thinking.
