Since the resolution of large-size displays is increasing up to 8K and even higher, highspeed data transmission is a great challenge for T-CON and Source Drivers. While the high volume of data and high speed of data transmission are required for 8K displays, the loading and parasitic effect has a greater impact on data transmission, resulting in an instability and deterioration of the data transmitting system. In order to solve the problem of insufficient bandwidth and the deterioration of signal quality,a novel high-speed point-to-point interface is proposed in this thesis. This research is related to transmission protocol architecture,encoding/decoding design, solution to signal decay and charging ratio improvement. This dissertation provides theoretical and practical foundations for national-standard point-to-point high-speed transmission protocol, meanwhile main achievements are listed below:1.A high-speed data transmission protocol and encoding/decoding design are proposed.By employing an embedded Clock Data Recovery(CDR)mechanism, clock calibration is realized between T-CON and Source Drivers. In this protocol framework, the packages of data mapping are embedded in data lines. In addition,a unique 8Bits/9Bits encoding/decoding design is adopted to achieve an excellent transmission speed and accuracy.Compared with the current point-to-point technique CEDS(Clock Embedded Differential Signaling),the encoding efficiency of this protocol can be increased by 3%,reaching 88%.The experimental results show that the minimum magnitude of the eye diagram of this novel protocol is 312 m V.This indicates a better signal quality with an improvement of 44%.2.An adaptive equalizer design with an error feedback function is proposed using PseudoRandom Binary Sequence as the training set in the filter of the equalizer in order to compensate the gain of the high-frequency signal. The signal is transmitted with a modification of the preemphasis using embedded comparison circuits.Compared with the current point-to-point technique CEDS,the transmission speed can reach above 3.5 Gbps and is improved by 16%,effectively solving the problem of signal decay during high-speed transmission.3.A compensation of the Fanout signal of the Source Drivers and a fast-charging design are proposed.Based on the property of the Fanout regions, the signal decay at different data lines is compensated. The charging capability of the point-to-point interface drivers is enhanced through detection circuits.Compared with the current point-to-point drivers, the charging time of drivers with this protocol can be increased by 31.6%,dramatically increasing the charging ratio of large-size 8K displays.
