In software products,especially in professional software of some large tools,the interface information often has a higher cognitive difficulty of domain knowledge.The organization and design of software interface information will ultimately affect user cognitive efficiency.At the same time,with the continuous development of big data and intelligent technology,the exponential growth of information volume and real-time delivery change the modern design thinking.Massive information has gradually become an important source of data for design.Design theory is based on factual basis from design practice.The research in this paper is derived from the National Key Basic Research Development Program(973 Program): "Reliability of Modern Design Large-Scale Application Software" and 3D Software Design Project Practice that the author participated in.The object of the thesis research is the 3D software interface information.This paper takes cognitive elements as the starting point,and mainly studies the classification and integration design of cognitive elements in 3D software interface.The main research area is the “design method”.This study takes Cross' s "design-scientific mutual complementarity" as the basic design philosophy to construct a three-dimensional software interface information classification model and its integrated design methodology.The thesis is based on Mayer's multi-channel cognitive theory and uses literature research,empirical research and case analysis methods.From the methodological level,the research constructs an auxiliary design method for the design,development and iteration of 3D software products through the classification of cognitive elements in interface information.The key issue in this paper is the classification and integration design of cognitive elements in the 3D software interface.The research contents include: First,the definition and category of cognitive elements in the 3D software interface information.Second,the attribute classification model of the 3D software interface information from the designer's point of view.Third,the application of interface information classification model in the integrated design process.The research contents are as follows: First,analyze the characteristics of the cognitive elements in 3D software interface information through the literature query and typical 3D software cases.Second,confirm the categories of the cognitive elements in the 3D software interface through experiments and cases,and construct the attribute classification model for the 3D software interface information.Third,develop the auxiliary design tool software based on the attribute classification model of 3D software interface information.At the level of theoretical research,this study uses literature retrieval methods and comparative analysis methods.First,analyze the development trend of design research and the development of cognitive science.Second,analyze related literatures such as cognitive elements,user cognitive preferences,and unstructured information based on Mayer's channel theory.The above comparative analysis of the literature provides effective theoretical support for the design study.At the level of experimental basis,there are two experiments including the “Cognitive Transformation Experiment Based on Text Elements and 3D Image Elements” and the “Cognitive Efficiency Experiments of Text Elements and Image Elements”.Also there are two questionnaires included,which are the “Common User Preference Questionnaire Survey” and the “Questionnaire Survey on the Importance of Design-Related Information by Design Experts”.During the doctoral research and exchange in the school of software,Tsinghua University,as one of the core design members,the author applied above experiments and questionnaires basis into three design cases,which are "Logo Up Program-based 3D modeling software","Neobox 3D Printing Operation System",and "Voice 3D Modeling software".Three cases play a supporting role in the study.Each design case includes experiments,feasibility tests,questionnaire surveys,observational experiments,statistical analysis,and thousands of stability test data.The data is obtained from experiments,tests and research provides a wealth of data support for theoretical research.In the research process,theoretical research and design practice both play a supporting role,forming a theoretical research-empirical data-design case relationship.The main contributions of this paper are as follows:First,study two cognitive elements of 3D software interface information based on Mayer's multi-model theory: 1)text element;2)image element.Put forward the relation model between text element and image element.The result of “cognitive transformation experiment based on text element and 3D image element” shows that there are cognitive transformation differences in the process of converting text element into 3D image element.Participants differed in the reference plane of spatial cognition and expression.The results of “the experiment on the cognitive efficiency of text element and image element” show that there are many mis-operations in the area with dense information.Mis-operations are also common in the area where the different functional text element and image element are mixed.The feasibility of theoretical research is preliminarily verified when the above experimental results were applied to the development of "Logo Up program-based 3D modeling software".Second,construct a classification model of interface information for 3D software.Establish four kinds of interface information based on the time and content dimensions: 1)active information;2)inactive information;3)structured information;4)unstructured information.Construct a 3D software interface information classification modeling(ICM)for designers based on these four kinds of information.Applying ICM to the " Neobox 3D Printing Operating System User Interface Design",the results of a satisfication scale questionnaire shows that 86.4% of users think that the software designed from ICM is easy to use.This verifies the effectiveness of the design approach.Third,design and develop an auxiliary design tool software for designers based on ICM,called ICMS.During the design process,ICMS can provide auxiliary design tool on classification,storage,statistics and analysis of interface information for designers to improve their design efficiency.Finally,a theoretical framework for the cognitive process of information interface for designers is proposed.
