Management Research Of The Archives Kept In The Meng Family Mansion

Research objects of this dissertation are ancient books, archives and stone inscriptions which involved History, Management, Edition, Bibliography, Archival science and many other different subjects. So I divided this dissertation into seven chapters to show you orderliness and clearness.This dissertation begins with the introduction of Mencius---a great thinker, a magnificent philosopher, also a grand educationist in Chinese History. A list was made to demonstrate the posterity of Mencius and seniority in the Meng clan. This dissertation systematically introduced reverences and titles given to Mencius by successive dynasties, emphatically recommended the survey of the Meng Family Mansion. Author holds that the safekeeping place of the Archives Kept in the Meng Family Mansion named Cishu Building.Archives Kept in the Meng Family Mansion are all forms of historical records produced by Mencius and his direct descendants in such activities as mansion affairs management, sacrifice of Mencius and social communication, etc. Archives Kept in the Meng Family Mansion has attributes such as sociality, historicity, familial and original record property, which were divided into several parts named traditional paper archives, photographic archives, ancient books and stone archives. All these archives have different quantities and time periods. Archives Kept in the Meng Family Mansion have several different values such as historical voucher value, economic reference value, culture inheritance value, cultural relic value and literary and artistic value, which were distributed in Zoucheng City of Shandong Province, Beijing, Nanjing, Jinan, Taiwan, etc.According to the principle and methods of archival arrangement, catalogues of paper archives, stone archives, photographic archives, ancient books in the Meng Family Mansion were made. This dissertation analyzed the relationships between archives and books, archives and cultural relic in the process of sorting and cataloguing of the Archives Kept in the Meng Family.Annals of the Meng Family, Genealogical Tree of the Meng Family and Imperial Decree of Emperor Daoguang of Qing Dynasty are eminent Archives Kept in the Meng Family Mansion also Chinese precious archival cultural heritage, as a membership of Memory of the World.Archival resource kept in the Meng Family Mansion needs integration, so we can adopt the experience and methods of American presidential library---implementation of the integrated management of Archives, books and cultural relic kept in the Meng Family Mansion.
