| Telling the Chinese story, spreading the Chinese voice, accelerating the construction of Chinese discourse and narrative system, and creating new concepts, new categories and new expressions that integrate China and abroad are important tasks for strengthening China’s international communication capacity building. The precedent narrative in CPC(Communist Party of China)Literature is rooted in China’s traditional culture, involving politics, economy, culture, history, social life and many other fields,is the authoritative form of expression of Chinese stories. The construction effect of their translations involves the construction of China’s foreign discourse system and the shaping of a good international image. In the context of the new era,its research has important theoretical value and practical significance.Precedent narrative is a narrative description around a certain precedent phenomenon, consists of textual level and social level. The article is guided by the theory of social narrative and the theory of Translator Behaviour Criticism, and takes the precedent narratives in the Russian translations of CPC Literature as the object of study.Through a comparison of the Precedent Narratives in the Russian version of Xi Jinping Tells the Story, translated by the famous Russian sinologists А.В.Semyonov(А.В.Семенов)and Т.Г.Semyonova(Т.Г.Семенова),with the Russian version of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China and other works, which translated by Chinese translators,to clarifies the behavioral characteristics of Chinese and Russian translators in constructing precedent narratives at the ephemeral, diachronic, quantitative and qualitative levels, and explores the critical path of Russian translations of precedent narratives of CPC Literature,to objectively revealing the constructing effectiveness of precedent narratives in CPC Literature at different levels. The study begins with the perspective of social narrative, and presents the overall characteristics of the reconstruction of precedent narratives by translators from both countries by interpreting different versions of the precedent narratives of CPC Literature at different levels. The four major narrative construction strategies of Mona Baker’s social narrative theory, temporal and spatial framing, participant repositioning, framing by selective appropriation and framing by labelling, are reinterpreted at the chronological, diachronic, quantitative and qualitative levels according to the textual characteristics of the precedent narratives, and sub-categories are set up to explore the similarities and differences in the choice of narrative construction strategies by translators in the two countries. The results of the comparison show that there are differences in the strategies chosen by the translators of the two countries for reconstructing the precedent narratives, and for the reconstruction of some of the precedent narratives, although both translators adopt the same construction strategies, there are still differences in the formulation of specific narrative discourses, all of which have an impact on the reconstructive effect of the narrative translations and their dissemination to a certain extent. To evaluate the effect of different translations of preceding narratives, the study is based on the reflection on the limitations of traditional translation criticism.Under the guidance of the continuum of "truth-seeking and pragmatism" of the theory of translator behaviour criticism, the study tries to break through the single evaluation standard of traditional translation criticism at the linguistic level, combine the factors within the text with the social factors outside the text, and use the "truth-seeking degree" of the text,"pragmatic degree" of the effect and "reasonable degree" of the translator’s behaviour as the evaluation criteria to constructs a multifaceted evaluation model for the comparative study of Russion translation of precedent narratives-the "truthseeking-pragmaticrational" evaluation model of the precedent narratives of CPC Literature, which strives to examine the construction effect of the narrative translations in an all-round way from the perspectives of the author, reader and translator,so as to achieve an objective evaluation of the quality of the translations. To ensure the objectivity of translation criticism, the study designs and implements questionnaire surveys for Chinese translation critics and target language audiences, and based on the results of the survey, the construction effect of precedent narratives in the Russian translation of CPC Literature at different levels was analyzed in multiple dimensions. The results show that with the help of the three critical dimensions of "truth-seeking","pragmatism" and "rationality" in this model, the objective examination of the construction effect of precedent narrative translation can be more scientifically and effectively, and the narrative construction strategy which helps to improve the translation construction effect can provide reference for the improvement of the translation quality of CPC Literature. This study starts from the perspective of social narrative, and for the first time puts forward the concept of precedent narrative, which can guide political literature translation researchers to establish a sense of narrative construction, from the perspective of active "narrative" rather than passive "transformation" to do a job in the construction of foreign discourse system and international communication. In addition, this paper for the first time puts the Russian version of translation into the field of comparative research of CPC Literature. Finally, based on the objective results of the questionnaire, the study applies the established evaluation model, which is expected to provide reference for the translation and dissemination of CPC Literature,as well as the construction of China’s foreign discourse system and narrative system. |
