Three Gorges folk art includes Three Gorges folk art, music, dance, opera, quyi and other art forms. It is the psychological basis shared by the people in the Three Gorges area, and also an important part of the Three Gorges regional culture. There are a variety of folk arts in the Three Gorges area, including 2 main categories,10 sub-categories and 26 classifications. The people living in the Three Gorges area are honest, loyal and martial, which helps form the artistic characteristics of the Three Gorges folk art characterized by masculinity and romance.Three Gorges folk art comes into being because of the intersection of Three Gorges geographical ecology and cultural ecology, and also keeps developing with historical changes of the two ecology.Meanwhile,it is also driven by the needs of material and spiritual culture in different periods. Its internal alternation of the old and the new or changes in categories are particularly brought about by material and technological updates, economic and trade exchanges, changes in production mode, changes in clan structure, social concept changes, customs and beliefs changes and other factors. The cultural and ecological factors influencing Three Gorges folk art are folk customs, regional culture of the Three Gorges, clan structure, ideology, economic foundation, science and technology, geographical environment, etc. The folk custom is the source power for Three Gorges folk art and it plays an important role in the derivation and inheritance of its art form.In short, cultural ecology is the key, which not only guarantees the prosperity of Three Gorges folk art but also promotes its self-regulation reform. In the past hundred years, the industrialization, urbanization and technological development of the Three Gorges area have given rise to opportunities for the development of folk art,but also the rapid loss of inheritance, classification and folk art spirit due to the drastic transformation in local production and life style, structure and space. In recent years, the frequent application for “Intangible Cultural Heritage” and the revival of traditional folk art industry have brought some vitality to the endangered Three Gorges folk art,but it can not stop it from declining. The main reason is that people simplify the development of folk art as the inheritance of art itself and ignore its overall relevance to the cultural ecology. Therefore,in order to pass on this mother art and give full play to the multiple functions of folk art in materializing people,it is necessary to carry out “ecological original environment” inheritance mode, that is,the protection and inheritance of folk customs, the subject of inheritance, the cultural space and the folk art in an integrity. The case study of Three Gorges folk art shows that the “ecological original environment” inheritance mode is the rational path for the development of folk art.In this mode, folk customs and regional culture can be cultivated, and folk art can regain the spiritual driving force for innovative development.Inheritors of intangible cultural heritage and ordinary people will go hand in hand, and folk art will regain the benign structure of production and consumption, and get the embellishment and reflection of the spirit of the subject;Folk art will take root in the new urban and rural landscape, and its form and function will be activated and supported by material, media and technology. Finally,it will cause the folk art itself and folk customs, inheritance subject, cultural space and its own benign cultural ecology to achieve sustainable development.
