The Illusion Of The Original Ecology

It is pointed out at the beginning of this paper that the Original Ecology, which originates from the contemporary native context in China and the pluralistic integration of the Chinese nation, needs no consideration within the framework of the western term "Authenticity" but needs theoretical refocus and reconstruction in the context of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage with more and special social facts in the association of the contemporary development of the folk arts of the Western Minority in China.Thus, in accordance with the presumption of the Original Ecology of the folk songs by the native singers in their daily life in their hometown, this essay, in the form of the fieldwork, tries to participate in the localization of this theoretical discourse, from the field research on the Shibaoshan Folk Songs in Jianchuan County of the Dali Bai Minority in Yunnan Province in the years of2010and2011to the whole folk cultural system of Jianchuan.With the review of the word origins and analysis of the wording forms of the Original Ecology, this study indicates that the Original Ecology has the relatively temporal and ecological spatial dimensions with its orientation at the current life itself and its body as the criterion for the value of the life.The framing of the academic discourses about the Original Ecology is orientated more at the field at present, with the theoretical observation and academic judgment on the life field, life style and life stream of the folk life, which highly agrees with the current life holism reestablished in the framework of the modern folklore studies.Accordingly, this paper reflects on the writing style and the knowledge product of the Ethnography, the reconciliation of the inner link between the notion of the Original Ecology about the framing of the academic discourses and the Original Ecology of the folk life, namely, the concrete problems like the life observation perspectives, the life descriptive manners and the life value discovery, which lays the real foundations for the modern folklore discipline of the holistic life theory. A nongovernmental festival, Shibaoshan Folk Songs, in the ecological development with its natural origin, has become the ethnic holiday in Jianchuan County in1999and has been listed as the National Folk Intangible Cultural Heritage in China in2008. Shibaoshan Folk Songs is one of the important fields for the concentrated singing performance of the folk songs of the Bai nationality in Jianchuan, with the antiphonal performance as its main activity in which the concentration and the songs are highly interdependent.On the dimension of the Original Ecology field, this essay reviews the corresponding literature, folk memory and the ten-year experience of the governmental sponsorship, shows the different value pursuits of the customary bodies of the Songs, and sets the historic reference system for the biological on-the-spot field research of biyearly Songs with the orientation at the present fields.The writing style of the survey and the on-the-spot abstraction of the Bai songs are the reflection on the knowledge product of the Ethnography. The substitution of the construction, criticism and imagination about the being studied with the observation, description and record seems more objective and effective. The naive researcher can find himself or herself closer to the Original Ecology field.Subsequently, this study, with its focus on the Songs and Bai songs in the greater ecological framework of the Jianchuan folk life, listens attentively to the native narrators, interprets the Bai songs gathered in the present field and digs out the value dimensions from the perspectives of the meanings of the daily life, the comprehension of the life meaning and the cognition, as a clue throughout the paper to the valuation of the life styles of the Original Ecology arts.And these life styles are the real core values as the national Intangible Cultural Heritage. In this sense, this paper does not deny that the origin of the illusion of the Original Ecology is connected, at least in academic field, with the high construction of some academic discourses and the ecological imbalance of the academic lines and even the fragmentation of the folklores.Next, the field experience of this study has got that in the more realistic globalization and commercialization and the implementation of some national policies, the original forms of the Songs, Bai songs and singers are confronted with some problems such as the amalgamation of some primary and middle schools, the inherited ecologic fields of the priorities of the natural acquisition of the Bai language(mother tongue), the ecologic crisis of the linguistic carrier and in the broader sense, the cultural transfer logic for the folk culture of the minorities at present. Therefore, the illusion of the Original Ecology has its metaphorical meaning and alarming values.Above all, the perspective and the theoretical framing of the Original Ecology is an effort this paper makes to envisage the academic development and try to keep the academic standpoint for the focus on the present and meeting the requirements of the ages.Shibaoshan Folk Songs as the National Intangible Cultural Heritage need more native and realistic academic attitudes and cultural wills for the respects of the cultural bodies in the recognition of the Original Ecology and the investigation of the value dimensions in order to get the live transmission of the life field and life stream. Therefore, only the knowledge producer is able to participate in the development of the social cultures.
