Since 1980 s,the performing arts in China have undergone nearly 40 years of marketization reform.The reform has gone through many stages.At fisrt,it is the internal reform and autonomy of the state-owned performing arts institutes;then it is the corporatization of the state-owned performing arts institutes and the large-scale development of private performing arts institutes;and till now it is the construction of the market system and the improvement of the system of the performing arts.Compared with before the reform,the number of performing arts institutes and performances,especially the number of private institutes and its performances,have increased significantly;the allocation of human capital and material capital is freer;and the scale of market consumption continues to expand.In fact,market-oriented reform has released the development potential of performing art.However,some problems that restrict the reform and development of performing arts cannot be ignored.The specific differences in the effect of the marketization reform among types of performing arts need to be clarified.The impact of management efficiency and production scale on production efficiency in performing arts production is not clear.The factors that restrict the further expansion of performing arts consumption need to be explored.The mechanism of interaction between production and consumption of performing arts needs further study.These problems are not only the common theoretical problems of cultural economics,but also the urgent problems faced by policy makers,and also the core issues to be solved in this study.This paper analyzes the production,consumption and their interactive relationship of performing arts under the background of marketization.Firstly,this paper analyzes the historical evolution process and characteristics of the marketization policy of performing arts in China,and evaluates the results of the current marketization reform of performing arts in China based on the grey clustering analysis method.Secondly,this paper expounds the characteristics of the production output level and the input of factors of production of performing arts in China under the background of marketization,especially after the vigorous development of private performing arts institutes after 2004,and studies the technical efficiency,pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency of the production of performing arts in China.Thirdly,this paper expounds the characteristics of the consumption of performing arts under the background of marketization,and analyzes the factors influencing the consumption demand of Chinese performing arts.Finally,this paper studies the interactive relationship between the production and consumption of performing arts.The study finds that the more modernization of the types of performing arts are,the easier it is to realize marketization.It is necessary to deal with the relationship between the government and marketization of culture and art,fully consider the characteristics of different types of performing arts,and implement differentiated industrial policies.The improvement of overall technical efficiency of performing arts is limited between 2004 and 2016,and the main source of technical inefficiency is scale inefficiency.It is necessary to stimulate the vitality of production and promote the quality and efficiency of performing arts.While adhering to the direction of market-oriented reform,it should be necessary to optimize the allocation of resources in the field of art production,improve the scale efficiency of performing arts production,and embody the policy intention of the state to reduce production capacity and make up for shortcomings.The income elasticity of consumption demand for performing arts is between 0.42 and 2.33,while the price elasticity is between 0.57 and 1.12.There is no obvious substitution or complementary effect among performing arts.The impacts of the maximum supply capacity,cultural utility capital and the proportion of population aged 15-24 on the consumption of performing arts varies with the types of performing arts.It is necessary to cultivate new cultural growth and expand the consumption demand for performing arts by implementing two-way subsidies between production institutes and consumers,expanding the effective supply of performing arts products,and popularizing performing arts to young people.The production of performing arts has a definite promoting effect on its consumption level in general,but the production of performing arts with high appreciation threshold depends on its total consumption level and per capita consumption level,its consumption has obvious reaction to production.It is necessary to focus on creating new supply of performing arts and releasing new demand for performing arts,and to coordinate the relationship between supply and demand in the market by breaking through the threshold of appreciation,surmounting the aesthetic barriers that restrict consumption of elegant performing arts,and deepening the structural reform of the supply side of performing arts so as to make the artistic products have more effective supply attributes.
