The Collected Cases of the Judgement by Famous Good Officials is a classified compilation of lawsuit court verdicts and official documents in the Southern Song Dynasty. It is the precious material of social, economic, and legal history in the study of the Southern Song Dynasty,and also is more valuable in the study of Chinese language history. As the prosaic verdicts, The Collected Cases of the Judgement by Famous Good Officials fully shows the social life in the Southern Song Dynasty, truly reflects the reality of the language vocabulary, and the language is easy to understand.The research value of this paper mainly reflected in the following four aspects.It helps us to deepen the understanding of the Song Dynasty vocabulary, provides some basic datas and constructing informative investigation datas. Introducing this special class into the research on the Chinese language history can make up the deficiencies in the specific books and monographic study. There still exist some oversights in The Great Chinese Dictionary through a comparison of the vocabulary in The Collected Cases of the Judgement by Famous Good Officials, one purpose is to provide reference to the revision of The Great Chinese Dictionary. All emendation records in this paper have an important research significance to collating literatures of the book.The paper consists of six chapters, another eight in the appendixs.Chapter one is "Introduction". Section one, first introduces the definition and the categories of verdicts, and the version and contents of The Collected Cases of the Judgement by Famous Good Officials; then by analyzing the present situation of the research at home and abroad, the achievements at present mainly focused on history and law field, poor in linguistics research; at last,illustrates the value of corpus from three aspects of the book. Section two, introduces the research value in lexical study, the main findings as follows:it helps us to deepen the understanding of the Song Dynasty vocabulary, expands research area of monograph vocabulary study, contributes to large dictionaries of compilation, helps to collating literatures of the book. Section three, this paper presents the object of study, the methods and the research plan, and makes an explanation about the manner of writing.Chapter two is "The summary of vocabulary in The Collected Cases of the Judgement by Famous Good Officials ". Section one, is a vocabulary overview, first,we establish a standard of the polysyllabic words, then make a summarization on the nouns, verbs, adjectives, idioms and phrases from the respects of the quantity of the syllable, semantic items and the frequency of its utilization. Section two, gives a detailed description of the nouns, verbs and adjectives from the respects of the semantic items and the frequency of its utilization. Section three, gives a detailed description of idioms and phrases from the respects of the semantic items and the frequency of its utilization. Section four, makes a careful analysis of the words which not recorded in The Great Chinese Dictionary.Chapter three is "The synonym study in The Collected Cases of the Judgement by Famous Good Officials ". Section one, discusses the definition of the synonym and the common understanding of research in the synonym:all the discussion should be in the same language system; defining the synonyms should be done according to the glosseme; assure the consistence of parts of speech. Section two, make a overall and systemic description from the syllable and quantity of the synonyms in The Collected Cases of the Judgement by Famous Good Officials ". Section three, make a semantic analysis and distinguish several synonyms in different classes.Chapter four is "The digital names study in The Collected Cases of the Judgement by Famous Good Officials ". The digital names refer to the names contained the numbers, could be divided into two groups:the pure-digital names and the non-pure-digital names. Although The Great Chinese Dictionary has been extolled as an overall outstanding classic of the Chinese language, there still exist some oversights in the entries and the examples. A lot of errors are found in The Great Chinese Dictionary through a comparison of The Great Chinese Dictionary and the vocabulary in The Collected Cases of the Judgement by Famous Good Officials. So the research in this paper can provides some references to the revision of The Great Chinese Dictionary.Chapter six is "The vocabulary features in The Collected Cases of the Judgement by Famous Good Officials ". Because the book reflects the truth of the social life during the Song Dynasty, so it has the distinct characteristics of Song Dynasty. As a legal document of Song dynasty, it is evidently special in its language, the legal words are abundant. The authors of this book are mainly of the higher education, so of much use of idioms, literary quotations, quoted passages and stories. For this book is written in the official language, so the dialect and oral vocabulary are very poor. For the audiences are relevant officials and civilians, the language is easy to understand.New points in this paper as follows:The first one is that we discovered a large number of words in The Collected Cases of the Judgement by Famous Good Officials which have an important reference value in the revision of The Great Chinese Dictionary; The second one is that we sorted out the vocabulary in this book comprehensively for the first time, and provided much reliable information for Chinese vocabulary history study; The third one is that with the quantitative analysis methods, we make great efforts to provide all kinds of data which marked much more information, such as the semantic categories, the quantity of the semantic items and the frequency of its utilization.
