The Study Of Vocabulary And The Value Of Language Material In Nancun Chuogenglu

Nancun Chuogenglu is one of the significant historical recordings of anecdotes written by Tao Zongyi who lived between the Yuan and the Ming Dynasty. Chuogenglu has an important value to research the development history of latter-day Chinese language. It dos not only present that there are many words and meanings neglected by the big Chinese dictionaries in the book, but also it contains many exegetics notes which are expounded wonderfully by the author and embody his special understandings in philology and exegetics.This paper studies the vocabularies and exegetics materials in the book as deep and completely as possible. It is divided into five parts. The 1st chapter introduces the author and the book, including Tao Zongyi's biography, Chuogenglu's content, research value, the foregone research achievements, etc. In the 2nd chapter, the article reveals the general appearance of the vocabulary of Chuogenglu, from four aspects such as technicality, proper noun, loanwords and colloquial words to classify some important vocabularies in the book. We can also find some lexical characteristics of the Yuan Dynasty. In chapter 3, based on the Great Dictionary of Chinese Vocabulary, the thesis analyses the value of the vocabulary of the book in the big Chinese dictionaries' editing and revising, in order to supplement and correct the Great Dictionary of Chinese Vocabulary. Chapter 4 of this thesis mainly demonstrates some intricate words and meanings, which are neglected by the Great Dictionary of Chinese Vocabulary, with the intention of offering some reference for it. After combing, classifying and summarizing the exegetics materials from three sides, the last chapter finds the value of Chuogenglu in the ??learning of exegesis.
