The Study On The Illness Of The Elderly In Huangcheng Town Sunan County

Population is the cornerstone of social development.According to the seventh national census,China has entered an aging society.The health care of the elderly and its impact have risen from the individual and family to the social and even national level.This dissertation takes the elderly living in Huangcheng Town,Sunan Yugur Autonomous County,Hexi Corridor as the research object,and takes the aging of Chinese society and the transformation of disease spectrum as the realistic background by synthesizing theories of ethnology,sociology,anthropology,psychology and other disciplines.It pays attention to the medical and health problems of the elderly from a cultural perspective,and analyzes the relationship between the health of the local elderly and natural conditions,social culture,their own experiences,and surrounding groups.Based on the analysis of research,this dissertation believes that the disease of the elderly should receive attention from many aspects of the country and society,which has a positive effect on promoting medical humanistic care,the strategy of healthy China and the construction of a healthy aging society.This dissertation includes three main contents.First,it's the preparation of the research and the start of field stage including the introduction and the first chapter.At first,the introduction part explains the reason for choosing the topic,the research background and significance,the research perspective,and the research method.It also defines the relevant concepts and expounds the theoretical basis of this dissertation.Furthermore,the research status of the elderly and their health,disease culture,correlational research on illness narrative and medical anthropology are analyzed and reviewed.Last,this dissertation will give an overview of the field points from the historical evolution of Huangcheng town,natural geographical conditions,social and cultural background,local multi-medical model,and the representativeness of field points.The first chapter,which describes and investigates the main research objects of the field site,is closely related to the research theme It mainly depicts the daily life of the local elderly from living conditions and health status,and preliminarily presents the common diseases,pathogenic factors and available health resources of the local elderly.And then it draws forth some thoughts on pain,which is based on what we have seen and heard in the field.Secondly,chapters two to four involves the thinking triggered by field observations.This part comprehensively and meticulously interprets and analyzes the pain problems of the elderly through three aspects: the interpretation of the disease in the multi-party narrative,the treatment practice and cognition of the elderly,and the treatment results of the disease.The second chapter mainly summarizes the starting point and focus of various subjects on the problem of old age pain through the description and analysis of the pain narrative of different subjects.Then,trying to show a multi-level and multi-faceted disease treatment process through the different subjects' pain narration,the different interpretation modes are derived and explained according to the difference of the subject's pain narration.Through the narration of several subjects,let the disease as illness appearance,in order to arouse three kinds of awakening.The third chapter investigates and discusses the treatment cognition and treatment practice of the local elderly,and divides treatment practice into two categories: medical treatment and emotional comfort,and then points out that tradition has not been completely replaced by modern science in the thinking and cognition of the elderly.According to their own cognition and the influence of others,they will choose among different medical systems.The fourth chapter reflects the local elderly people's attitudes towards the disease treatment results,which is based on the different types of local elderly disease treatment results by means of representative cases;it further proposes that different types attitude of emphasis and contempt.The normalized choices made by the elderly regarding illness and its impact change with the changes in their illness and the surrounding environment.They are not static,but complex and interlaced.Finally,the fifth chapter,the sixth chapter and the conclusion are mainly the reflection and summary of the field.The fifth and sixth chapters are reflections and responses to the subject of this study—the problem of illness.The fifth chapter reflects on the role of the elderly group of patients,the disintegration of the multiple meanings of the patient under the influence of illness,the modern medical problem,the neglect of the concept of multi-subjects in the problem of illness,and the lack of elderly care for the elderly.To highlight the problems of illness.The sixth chapter discusses the reconstruction of multiple meanings of illness in the elderly,the significance of illness narrative to modern medicine,and justifying illness from a humanistic perspective,and is issues.It mainly involves two aspects.On the one hand,it thinks about the significance of illness in modern medical care including taking illness as the starting point,and repairs the relationship between doctors and patients through the narrative of illness and other methods to face the problem of illness.On the other hand,it calls on the public to face up to the problems of aging,from fear of aging to accepting that the aging cycle is part of an individual's life cycle.Although the field sites selected in this dissertation do not fully fit the situation of the elderly population in Northwest China,as a multi-ethnic area affected by modernization,its particularity and commonality are indeed representative in terms of type.To some degree,it can better present the pain problems of the elderly in the northwest ethnic areas.In the specific discussion,this dissertation presents and explains the real life of the elderly under the problem of illness on the basis of sorting and analyzing materials to reproduce various life scenarios by using the framework of disease research.It takes the problem of disease as the breakthrough point and is based on field research cases,and then conducts research around the narratives of the local elderly,their surrounding people,and medical staff.The research can provide textual support for related research on the culture of geriatric diseases in my country.And it also add research experience in Northwest China to local medical anthropology in China.Then it can provide some guidance and reference for communication and cooperation between multiple disciplines in academia and the medical and elderly care systems in ethnic areas.
