The Social Communication And Its Influence Between Doctors And Literary Men In Jin And Yuan Dynasties

During the Jin and Yuan dynasties,the social communication between doctors and literary men was unprecedentedly prosperous,among which the most prominent performance was that a large number of literary works written for the doctors appeared in the scholars' writings.This study takes the social communication between doctors and scholars as the starting point,and takes it into consideration in the historical environment of the Jin and Yuan dynasties.By careful examination of relevant literature such as medical works,historical books,literary works,inscriptions and epitaph,this paper shows some typical interaction activities between doctors and scholars,and then explores the impact of the interaction on traditional Chinese medicine in the Jin and Yuan dynasties.First of all,several representative physicians such as Zhang Congzheng,Li Gao,Luo Tianyi,Dou Mo and Zhu Zhenheng are selected as the main research objects.Through in-depth analysis and detailed description of their socializing activities with relevant scholars,this study tries to sort out the relationship between doctors and scholars which has not been studied before,and to correct some vague,confused and even wrong understanding.Secondly,this paper comprehensively analyzes the historical background,ideological basis and realistic factors of the unprecedented prosperity of the interaction between doctors and scholars in Jin and Yuan dynasties by case studies.The aim is to find a more reasonable answer for the distinctive characteristics of the times in the development of traditional Chinese medicine in this period.Finally,the author discusses the influence of social communication between doctors and literary men in Jin and Yuan Dynasties,including the establishment of the legitimacy of traditional Chinese medicine inheritance,the improvement of physicians' status and the later development of traditional Chinese medicine.Doctors had close contacts with scholars and some doctors with Confucian background actively drew close to the Confucian scholars during the Jin and Yuan Dynasties.The quality of doctors had improved significantly,and more and more met the standards created by the scholars.Confucian Physician gradually became the mainstream of doctors.Doctors and scholars both influence each other and promote each other,which provides the possibility for the further improvement of doctors' social status and political status.Doctors with certain political voice even affect the medical sacrifice of a dynasty.The Three Emperors accepted the exclusive sacrifice of doctors,which is likely to seek the basis for the legitimacy and orthodoxy of the new dynasty by the medical officials who had certain political voice and Confucian officials in the Yuan Dynasty.Objectively,it also provides the necessary political conditions for doctors to try to establish the legitimacy of traditional Chinese medicine inheritance compared with Confucianism,and finally lays the foundation for the construction of the orthodox of traditional Chinese medicine in Ming and Qing Dynasties.
