It is difficult for users to get knowledge from the mass information, at the same time the theory and practice of knowledge organization has not made significant progress, so the research on knowledge organization is desperately required. This paper is about a methodological exploration on knowledge organization. From a practical point of view, the study took literature of extraction technology of Traditional Chinese Medicine as an example. This paper focuses on further analysis and utilization of the database field "factors and best process". This research hopes to get a consolidated result about "factors and best process" for the researchers. There are mainly four phases in this research:The first part——objective of studyInvestigation on the object of knowledge organization is required. According to the results of investigation, there are three principles we should follow. Firstly, we should place importance on the researchers' requirements. Secondly, knowledge environment of every article should be stable and coordinated to provide a feasible utilization. Thirdly, these related articles should have some research data. The second part——knowledge extractionThe study established a database to organize the literature on extraction technology of Chinese medicine. At the same time, a data acquisition software was developed to organize knowledge in the first time. However, there are two major drawbacks for this kind of organization. The first one is that the results by organization are only some list display of the related data; it is hard to show the information correlation, The other one is that a consolidated advice is not provided. So we should find a new way to satisfy researcher's requirements. The third part——knowledge re-organizationA new method was designed to develop further data organization and utilization, with the Chinese medicinal components "tetrahydropalmatine" as test example. A pre-experiment through three statistical methods, Rank-Sum Ratio (RSR), frequency statistics method, and Topsis method was conducted. On the basis of comparing the pros and cons, Rank-Sum Ratio method was finally chosen to compute the data on the consolidated effect on factors for the same Chinese medicinal component derived from the same Chinese medicine. It means that the factor with higher-ranking position with greater effect. And frequency statistics method was selected to count the frequencies for the best process operation. All the calculation results were acquired with the help of the software we developed. The fourth part——experimental resultsIn the end, this research gathered enough Chinese medical components information from 1299 articles on extraction technology in Chinese medicine. The data on the "factor" and "the best process" about 61 Chinese medical components from the database were further organized for deeply utilization. In brief, this paper takes document investigation as a starting part, oriented by the researcher's demands, and actively explores a organization method on unstructured document knowledge. This research focuses on knowledge organization of extraction technology in Chinese medicine. The method could be provided for Chinese medicine knowledge organization, especially for similar knowledge environment and rank-ordering research.
