The construction industry is facing problems such as low labor productivity,labor shortage,and safety risks,while the technology of automation and robotics brings new opportunities to deal with these problems.The field of construction automation and robotics has undergone more than 40 years of development and has accumulated a large number of research results.However,these research results have not yet been widely adopted in practice.Since high-rise buildings have higher requirements of construction efficiency,quality and safety,it is necessary to study the application of automation and robotics in high-rise buildings.Therefore,this study aims to focus on high-rise buildings,explore the development and current status of automation and robotics in high-rise buildings,and study the development priorities and guarantee measures.First,this study employed a mixed method of scientometric analysis and inductive analysis and conducted a comprehensive review of relevant research in the field of automation and robotics in high-rise buildings.On this basis,the main research directions were summarized and their development history and maturity of the research results were analyzed.Meanwhile,the commercial products and the supporting technologies were investigated and the barriers were summarized.Next,from the industrial perspective,the study conducted a questionnaire survey and organized an expert workshop to grasp the market needs and proposed development priorities and key challenges.Then,from the organizational perspective,the study summarized direct and indirect experiences for the future development of the relevant participants.To obtain direct experience,the study developed a prototype of a safety inspection robot for glass curtain walls in high-rise buildings,and summarized the key points and difficulties.To obtain indirect experience,case studies were conducted among four successful companies in this field to understand the process from R&D to applications.On this basis,influential factors for promoting continuous R&D and application were identified and further analyzed according to the framework of “technology-organization-environment”.Finally,the guarantee measures for the development of automation and robotics in high-rise buildings were proposed from three perspectives: government,industry and organization.The main results of this study are as follows: main research directions,research results,and barriers were summarized;five development priorities and four key challenges were proposed;ten influential factors for promoting continuous R&D and application were identified,including three technological factors,four organizational factors and three environmental factors;ten guarantee measures to promote the devlepment of construction automation and robotics in high-rise buildings were proposed.This study forms a multi-perspective review of the development of construction automation and robotics in high-rise buildings,laying a theoretical foundation for subsequent research;proposed clear development priorities and key challenges and identified the difficulties and key factors in the process from R&D,providing important references to promote the application of research results,and helping promote the productization and practicalization of research results;proposed a efficient and safe method for safety inspection of glass curtain walls in high-rise buildings based on the development of a robot prototype;proposed systematic guarantee measures for the development of construction automation and robotics in high-rise buildings.
