The Traditional Chinese Space As A Performative Space

The research explores the performativity of Chinese traditional space through a systematic study,especially on its exhibition.The research focus on both the material object and conceptual object that can embody the formation of Chinese space,paying attention to the overall investigation of the contents from the two dimensions of ideality to materiality and the relationship between them,involving the development of the space concept and the space type,evolution of the landscape concept and landscape aesthetics.In this study,exhibition and performativity are not only the object of study,but also the context in which various scattered objects in traditional Chinese space are integrated.Therefore,the third chapter also systematically combs the basic issues and contents of the exhibition by comparing the concepts of display and performance,so as to establish a basic investigation framework for the research while clarifying the research object--a spatial practice system that combines display,liveness and experience.Based on this framework,this paper attempts to sort out the performance system in Chinese space,which includes basic concepts,spatial typology,exhibition typology,spatial grammar and spatial practice.The fourth chapter is the study of the performativity in the Chinese space concept.The paper discusses the traditional Chinese body concept and its influence,the time in the concept of miniature,and the transcendence of gaze developed from "?".The fifth chapter discusses exhibition forms in Chinese space.The paper makes a systematic study of the exhibition in space such as sacrifice,ritual,Elegant Gathering and Temple Fairs,as well as the exhibition of landscapes such as sights,gardens,hand scrolls.The sixth chapter summarizes four spatial grammars from the Chinese conception of space.Finally,the research emphasizing the performativity is an essential feature of Chinese traditional space,embodied in its total art tendency(integration with people,objects,event,place)and its inner relation with daily life logic.Ignoring performativity,it is difficult to develop experimental and contemporary space practice only in the classical space aesthetic system...
