Temple gardens are one of the types of Chinese classical gardens that integrate architectural art, religious culture, history and humanities, and public tourism. They are also an important space carrier that reflects ancient town life and social culture. The Three Gorges area of the Yangtze River extends from Chongqing to Yichang in Hubei. It is a long and narrow geographical space enclosed by the Daba Mountains in the north,Wuling Mountains and Dalou Mountains in the south. It is famous for its magnificent and peculiar natural mountains and rivers, and as a Golden Waterway and an important migration channel into the western inland of China in ancient times, the regional culture of the Three Gorges area is very inclusive and open-Bachu cultural exchanges are frequent,The interpenetration of Buddhism and Taoism and the prevalence of folk rituals have formed a unique human geography unit of mixed beliefs and multi-cultural fusion over time. These have provided rich cultural fertile ground for the origin of temple gardens in the region.Compared with other types of gardens in the Three Gorges area, temple gardens have a long history,a wide distribution, and a large number. They have also become a tradition in this area due to the natural gorges, the flexible space construction and the cultural accumulation.Typical representatives of gardens. With the substantial rise of the water level after the completion of the Three Gorges Reservoir and rapid urbanization,a large number of temple gardens are facing the dilemma of gradual destruction and disappearance.Protection and traditional work are urgent, and the corresponding rescue research is also urgent. However, due to the late start of the study of temple gardens in this area, the serious faults in the garden materials in the historical period, the relative lack of basic materials necessary for the research;both research results are mostly concentrated in case studies, lacking spatial recognition and overall pattern The gardening techniques have been systematically combed,so that there has not yet been a systematic study on the spatial characteristics and design principles of temple gardens in the Three Gorges area. Therefore, taking temple gardens as a type of research is not only helpful for a deeper understanding of the particularity of the region's regional culture, but also a supplement and improvement to the study of traditional gardens in Southwest of China. It also has practical application value for the protection and inheritance of temple gardens in the Three Gorges area. The research contents of this paper mainly include the three parts:Part ? Analysis the background of temple gardensFrom the perspective of the regionalization process of the development of religious culture in my country, analyze the characteristics of religious beliefs in the Three Gorges area and the origins of regional culture, and summarize the historical development of temple gardens in the Three Gorges area.Part ? Systematic study of the landscape characteristics of temple gardensStarting from the macro pattern, research is carried out around "distribution site selection-framing elements-spatial organization",systematically summarize the spatial characteristics of temple gardens in the Three Gorges area, and explore the spatial logic and formation mechanism behind the characteristics.Part ? Summarize the temple garden design methodsBased on the natural landscape endowment of the Three Gorges area and the regional characteristics of multi-cultural integration,it summarizes the design principles and strategies of the temple gardens in the Three Gorges area from a multi-scale perspective. In this paper, based on the landscape architecture theory, combined with the human geography, history, architecture, sociology, religion, aesthetics and other related disciplines, with history and empirical research, comprehensive use of Arc GIS,Text A Analysis,Space Syntax, with a comprehensive and objective technical path, realized the visual illustration and law analysis of the overall spatial distribution, framing elements, landscape vision, viewing dynamics, and spatial structure of temple gardens. From the aspects of regional cultural origin, religious belief characteristics, historical development context, location selection, landscape elements, spatial organization, etc.,a systematic study of temple gardens in the Three Gorges area. From a multi-scale perspective,it summarizes the design theory and method strategy of Borrowing Situation,Combining Form and Following Text of temple gardens in the Three Gorges area, which provides a theoretical basis for the protection and inheritance of traditional gardens in the Three Gorges area,it also can provide active theoretical support for the human settlement environment construction in the post-Three Gorges era.
