Organizational Schema refers to the long-term basic cognitive structure within the organization,condensing the internal belief structure of the organization,and continually plays a supporting role in organizational behavior and innovation activities.At the theoretical level,although the "Organizational Schema" has become one of the core concepts of Organizational Cognition Theory,the research on specific types of enterprises in the organizational context is still weak,lacking of special research on State-owned Enterprises in Equipment Manufacturing(SOE in Equipment Manufacturing).The existing literature on the formation process of the Organizational Schema still needs to be discussed in detail.The performance characteristics of the Organizational Schema have not yet been theoretically refined.There are still "Black Boxes" and "Paradox Relationships" about the mechanism and influence of the Organizational Schema on the Innovation Implementation.On the practical level,the SOE themselves have"mixed reputations ",and there are always lots of controversial and even opposing views.Among them,based on phenomena such as "the Rise of new SOE",especially the technological innovations of SOE in Equipment Manufacturing recently among high-speed railways,heavy equipment and other "Pillars of a Great Power",which has triggered their internal cognition and their characteristics,stimulating the widespread concern of the business community.Existing researches have shown that SOE in Equipment Manufacturing have inherent cognition with distinctive characteristics in terms of spiritual conviction,such as Accountability,Obedience,and Resilience.However,how to form the above mentioned inner cognition,what are the basic characteristics and how to influence innovation activities are still unsolved,and exploratory theoretical research is urgently needed.To answer these research questions above,this dissertation takes "Organizational Schema of State-owned Enterprises in Equipment Manufacturing and its Influence on Innovation " as the research theme.It follows the principle of Theoretical Sampling,taking several SOE in Equipment Manufacturing as research objects,and comprehensively uses Case Study methods,Grounded Theory and Cognitive Map.It carries out 3 Sub-research works:the formation path of the Organizational Schema,the performance characteristics of the Organizational Schema,and the influence mechanism of the Organizational Schema on the Innovation Implementation.Through qualitative research,firstly,this research constructs a " Step-wise Progressive""Zigzag" formation path theoretical model of the Organizational Schema;then,the research summarizes three conceptualized performance characteristics,which are Accountability Schema,Obedience Schema,and Resilience Schema.Finally,the research shows the relationship mechanism of the Organizational Schema exerting influence on the Innovation Implementation through the Guarantee mechanism,Acceleration mechanism and Driving mechanism.The specific contents of 3 sub-researches are as follows:Sub-research 1 focuses on the formation path of the Organizational Schema,taking SOE in Equipment Manufacturing as samples,and builds a two-dimensional analysis framework of"Cognitive Generalization" and "Cognitive Solidification",On the base of field research and obtaining first-hand data of Inner Mongolia North Heavy Industries Group,the research finds that:In the "cognitive generalization" dimension,the Schema has undergone multiple levels of"Individual Schema--Group Schema--Organizational Schema" and gradually forms Organizational Schema.Among them,key individuals leading and collective organizational mobilization are two key mechanisms.In the dimension of "cognitive solidification",the Organizational Schema is gradually solidified through the multi-step sequence of "Perception--Learning--Memory".Based on the integration of the two dimensions of multi-level"Generalization" and multi-step sequence "Solidification",this research constructed a "Step-by-Step" type "Zigzag" formation path theoretical model of the Organizational Schema.This research advances the research of Organizational Schema formation from individual context to organizational context.It not only opens up the internal relationship between the Organizational Schema at all levels,but also clarifies the progressive relationship between the steps in the Schema formation,figuring out the formation path of the Organizational Schema.Sub-research 2 focuses on the performance characteristics of the Organizational Schema,taking SOE in Equipment Manufacturing as samples,adhering to the basic idea of grounded theory from "data" to "theory",based on the longitudinal qualitive data of the 4 case-samples of CRRC(Dalian Locomotive),Dalian Heavy Industry and Lifting Group,Inner Mongolia North Heavy Industries Group and Shenyang Blower Works Group.,according to the three-step coding procedures of "Open Coding--Axial Coding--Selective Coding",carrying out the layer of "Qualitative data--Labeling--Conceptualization--Categorization(Sub Category)--Main Categorization--Core Category" induction work.The research finds that the Organizational Schema of SOE in Equipment Manufacturing exhibits three outstanding characteristics:namely Accountability Schema,Obedience Schema and Resilience Schema.Through further analysis,these can be concluded that the Accountability Schema belongs to the "Homogeneous"cognitive structure,the Obedience Schema belongs to the "Normalizing" cognitive structure,and the Resilience Schema belongs to the "Path Dependent" cognitive structure.Furthermore,from the PEST dimension,it points out the specific context factors that have a mapping relationship with the Organizational Schema.This research not only distills the fuzzy and scattered cognitive characteristics of the phenomenon level into the constructive characteristics of the theoretical level,and deepens the understanding of the type of cognitive structure belonging to it,but also promotes the contextual research of the Schema-related theory.Based on the "Overall View" of Innovation,Sub-research 3 combs the different modules of "Innovation Direction--Innovation Idea--Innovation Implementation",clarified that the Innovation Implementation of SOE in Equipment Manufacturing has the characteristics of"Task--Centric" and extracted "Task Undertaking--Task Execution--Task Breakthrough" as key behaviors.According to the principle of Theoretical Sampling,six SOE in Equipment Manufacturing,namely CSIC(Dalian Shipbuilding Industry),Wafangdian Bearing Group,CRRC(Dalian Locomotive),Dalian Heavy Industry and Lifting Group,Inner Mongolia North Heavy Industries Group and Shenyang Blower Works Group are selected as case samples to carry out the analysis framework of three key behaviors corresponding to Innovation Implementation based on the three performance characteristics of Organizational Schema.The results show that:Accountability Schema influeces Task Undertaking through "Guarantee mechanism" composed of "Identification--Commitment--Response",the Obedience Schema influeces Task Execution through "Acceleration mechanism" composed of "Inheritance,Transmission and Replication",while the Resilience Schema influeces Task Breakthrough through"Driving mechanism" composed of"Detour and Trial&Error".At last,this research constructs a theoretical model of the influence relationship between Organizational Schema and Innovation Implementation,explaining the internal mechanism of"Paradox" relationship between Organizational Schema and Innovation Implementation,and summarizes the law of the changing action intensity of the Accountability Schema,Obedience Schema and Resilience Schema in the process of Innovation Implementation.This research reveals the internal supporting relationship between Organizational Schema and Innovation Implementation,and fills the research gap of Innovation Implementation in the micro mechanism level.In short,this dissertation has completed a series of exploratory research around the theme of " Organizational Schema of SOE in Equipment Manufacturing and its Influence on Innovation ".At the theoretical level,this research has a certain theoretical contribution in the development of Organizational Cognition Theory,deepening of Schema-related Theory,and refinement of Innovation Implementation Research.At the practical level,this research provides some insights for SOE in Equipment Manufacturing to inherit and use the traditional advantages of the organization,for the state to deepen the SOE Reform,improving the scientifically governance and promoting the process of Mixed Ownership Reform,and provides a comparative reference for local private enterprises in China.
