The stability of geologic enviroment in coal mining subsidence area has been a bottleneck and difficult problem, which restricts the use of the land in our subsidence area and the sustainable development in the mining area. In this thesis, based on the stability of stratum in coal mining subsidence area and geologic condition, coal mining subsidence area is divided into three kinds: stable district, secondary stable district and unstable district. Meanwhile, with some correlative theories and approaches on human settlements appropriateness, spatial development, architecture design and landscape restoration in three kinds of areas are analyzed and stated. Grounded on the division of stable district, the principle of human settlements appropriateness construction, the orientation of spatial development in different areas and the approach to recreat the spatial function, the strategy and guideline of architecture design,as well as the mode of landscape restoration are put forward in the thesis. As a result, the research means a lot for the improvement of human settlements appropriateness in sudsidence area and the construction of sustainable mming area.
