| Safety culture is one of the determining factors to the success of safety management. It reflects the enterprise safety status and is of importance to accident prevention.Leaders, the architects of safety culture, affect the attitude and behavior of members through interaction with each other. This research proposed the cause and effect model of the impact of leader-member exchange (LMX) on enterprise safety culture based on the literature review. It then explored the factor structure of both safety culture and LMX, and verified the model of the impact of LMX on enterprise safety culture by statistic analyses including reliability, validity, correlation and the equation of structure model, based on 476 valid cases from coal mine enterprises in China and the United States. It indicates the significant positive correlation between LMX and safety culture. LMX influences each dimension of safety culture positively. It means improving the level of LMX will promote safety culture obviously. The cross-culture study explains simultaneously that this conclusion will be more suitable for the practice of safety culture improvement in Chinese enterprises. |
