Abstract/Summary:
This quantitative research study examined linear correlation of multivariate data between the levels of satisfaction for motivation and hygiene/maintenance factors as described by Herzberg et al.'s (1959) two-factor theory. A sample of 461 employed Generation Y individuals shared their perception of employment experiences on the MSQ (1967) long form. Generation Y sample was divided into 10 age groups sequentially listed from 1981 to 1990. A literature review was conducted on content theorists, Herzberg et al. (1959) two-factor theory, and Generation Y attributes. Linear association between levels of satisfaction variables and the age range of Generation Y were analyzed. The findings of the Canonical Correlation Analysis (CCA) revealed that Generation Y responded in the same way and at the same rate of agreement for one variable out of twenty variables. Responsibility was significant in their level of satisfaction. Further research was recommended.
