Abstract/Summary:
This study investigated the perceptions of selected home economics teacher educators and secondary home economics teachers who serve as cooperating teachers in the home economics teacher education programs to determine what differences exist between what the home economics teacher educators teach in lesson planning and what the secondary home economics teachers report they actually do in planning in their teaching. The data were analyzed using an analysis of variance and the chi squared tests. The basic results of the study were: (1) The essential components of lesson planning were identified as perceived by this sample of home economics teacher educators and home economics cooperating teachers. (2) Home economics teacher educators ranked most of the items higher on planning and seemed to be more idealistic about educational theory while the home economics cooperating teachers seemed to be more concerned with the practical aspect of planning.
