This basic qualitative descriptive study explored existing forms of engagement at online universities---both traditional and for-profit institutions---through faculty perceptions of engagement. Through the use of a field test, an online survey, and telephone interviews, participants identified professional development and email communication as the most popular forms of engagement at the universities where they were employed. The participants preferred to be engaged with their immediate supervisors, like program directors, and they prefer email communication over any other form of communication or engagement with their institutions. |
