Abstract/Summary:
The internet is a technology that has benefited billions of people in our generation and will benefit generations to come. Its four decades of existence has been used for academic, business, personal, and scientific purposes. The pervasive nature of the Internet allows stakeholders to transact business 24x7 without being restricted to any particular location. The Internet protocol (IP) addresses provided by the current IPv4 protocol will sooner than later be depleted making it difficult for consumers to obtain IP addresses which are required to access the internet. Meanwhile there are many request for comments available to the internet world to create the new generation protocol, little or less research has been done to understand reasons why designers and users lack of knowledge of IPv6. This study's purpose is to create factors that contribute to the lack of knowledge of IPv6 of users and designers. The outcome of the study will lay a speculative groundwork to enlighten the lack of knowledge on the part of designers and users of the internet protocol.
