Abstract/Summary:
One of the techniques of Digital Image Processing which has found wide application is that of convolving with a local operator or mask which spans an area much smaller than the complete image. Such an operator has been implemented in a real-time imaging system by means of a nine-output silicon charge coupled (CCD) imager, which contains nine nondestructive floating gate charge readout amplifiers and integral delay lines.;The nin-output device has been used in an experimental imaging system to sharpen edges of pictures and to compensate for nonuniform illumination effects. This compensation property is explainable in terms of two-dimensional filtering in the frequency domain.
