| The world's first high powered professional loudspeaker system was developed between 1975 and 1989 in a team effort that included over 20 engineers, designers and technicians over this 14-year period. Over 95 percent of the design was completed by the author's design team in the last three years of the project.;Both the design and marketing objective of the Proton project, The Acoustimass$spcircler$ Professional Powered Speaker System, were to produce a compact, lightweight, durable professional speaker with built-in amplifier. To meet these product objectives it was necessary to develop and use completely new designs, materials, and electronic and acoustic ideas.;This dissertation covers marketing and design concepts as well as mechanical ideas for assembly and function and a brief description of the team management approach used in the development of the product. The dissertation also examines the project's successes and problems. |
