Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships between stress, anxiety, and the use of self-hypnosis as intervention to alleviate these conditions. The sample was 40 individuals, ages 20--50 years. Anxiety levels were measured using the Burns Anxiety Inventory at pre and post levels of self-hypnosis instruction. A secondary goal was to determine if the artists experience a change regarding the quality or level of production in their work. Using a pre-post creativity questionnaire developed by the researcher, the artists were asked to self-report any changes in creativity. Assessing for any significance in pre-post change in creativity was accomplished by using a Wilcoxon Signed Rank test.
