Abstract/Summary:
This dissertation presents an improved sweeping mesh generation algorithm. This algorithm is based on traditional sweeping techniques that create an all hexahedral element mesh by projecting an existing single surface mesh along a specified trajectory to a specified single-target surface. This new algorithm enhances the traditional method by incorporating a projection technique that minimizes mesh distortion and creates an all hexahedral element mesh between multiple source surfaces and multiple target surfaces. An innovative application of Boolean operations is used to decompose the complex model automatically. This algorithm is combined with virtual geometry decomposition and generalized sweeping transformation to insure all hexahedral element mesh generation.
