This dissertation describes current presentation technology and visual aid practices in the Virginia Community College System's basic communication courses by providing an analysis of representative Introduction to Public Speaking (SPD 100) and Survey of Communication (SPD 110) syllabi. In addition, the author proposes that basic communication course instructors teach students how to communicate with presentation technology. Finally, the author synthesizes research from the disciplines of education, information technology, psychology, graphic design, and communication to propose methods of conducting such training. |
