Abstract/Summary:
Computer-mediated communication (CMC) technologies have been an integral part of distance education for many years. They are found in both synchronous and asynchronous platforms and are intended to enhance the learning experience for students. CMC technologies add an interactive element to the online learning environment. The findings from this study suggest that behavioral intention (BI) to use a CMC technology can be predicted from a combination of perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and computer experience. However, the combination of age and gender was not found to be a predictor of BI.
