Abstract/Summary:
A demand exists for organizational systems favoring real time information applications and methods for systems integration. Current conceptual models for understanding complex dynamic systems are based on the exchange of delayed-time information. There is little research that examines the method in which accessing real time information that provides measurements of values which fluctuate over time can assist a decision maker to gain greater control, predict problems, and make decisions within the framework of complex dynamic organizations. Although scholars and practitioners attempt to synthesize the merits of real time information, we do not yet have a clear understanding of the changes that may occur, especially when considering complex dynamic systems. This study contributes new understanding of the influences on complex dynamic systems when decision makers access real time access information. The study suggests that professionals who work with complex systems recognize that accessing real time information would aid them in assessing non-artificial time constraints, enhance their roles, save money, improve diagnostic capabilities, and increase the effectiveness of their decision-making abilities by improving the systemic efficacy of their work within complex dynamic systems.
