Internet of Things is an information network to connect objects, with the full capacity to perceive objects, and having the capabilities of reliable transmission and intelligence processing for information. The research and development of Internet of Things allows us to obtain real-time information of anything. Based on such research background, this paper focuses on real-time information theory and real-time information acquisition problem in Internet of Things.The life and production style of human society has been changed by the using of real-time information. People can make better decisions with the various types of interaction devices hiding in the lives to dealing with massive amounts of real-time information. Therefore, the research of real-time information is greatly significance.In order to build our research background, the concept, vision, development, key technologies and typical application of Internet of Things has been systematically introduced, and this paper also summaries five real-time information applications, including typical news system, Sensor Web, Social Networks, Real-time Web and real-time traffic system.Next is real-time information theory. The definition of information lifetime expectation is given to indicate the overall time average of information based on the information theory built by Shannon. Information Lifetime Expectation has been formalized by the information time probability distribution of some messages. In the unexpected event information model, the loss problem of information value during real-time information transmission has been discussed. In the real-time information flow model built by participants and information flow between them, the information propagation delay problem has been studied.Real-time information acquisition issue includes real-time information collection and dissemination process. The system architecture, software architecture, user scenario of real-time information system has been introduced through general system. A mathematical model of information acquisition is derived on information flow formula and real-time information related definitions, focusing on the loss of information value and information propagation delay during the process of acquisition. According to different sources of real-time information, the acquisition process can be divided into two categories: physical world, virtual world. According to the effectiveness of people played in the role of information collection, real-time information collection is divided into three categories: automatic collection, manual collection, mixed collection. Analysis of working principle and related algorithms of different collection way is given. Information gathering integrity and accuracy issues, classified real-time information collection and scene reconstruction problem, and real-time information dissemination problem during the process of real-time information acquisition are examined in detail. A novel reverse modeling technology is given in the scene reconstruction problem. In the real-time information dissemination problem, Push, Pull and Mixed model are given.A TIG project is introduced. In this project, a traffic network"SUVnet"based on real-time information by collecting Shanghai Volkswagen's 4000 taxi GPS data is built. The preliminary result of real-time information on traffic routing strategy by comparing the travel time of real-time information based and driver experiences based path driving is given.
