Abstract/Summary:
This exploratory study was to create a video and document its development in a Contextual Essay. The focus was on imaging and initiating an Apache production with a sense of mission filmed into a visual medium, so that communication of an indigenous people could be embarked upon. The process of Apache methodologies which influenced the producing and directing of the video will be documented and reflected in the contextual essay, which is the most significant part of the PDE. These efforts will hopefully make a contribution to various scholarships and perhaps most importantly, the research will encourage the recording of culture among native people, by its own people. This therefore affords Apache understandings to be present in the research and film. The holistic approach to wellness occurs when two Apache friends are on a spiritual vision quest, which is a Native American symbol of connecting the mind, body, heart and spirit in seeking direction for one's life. The mythology of a snake teaching a human illuminates the opportunities for the two Apache boys for transformation and transcendence, a Transpersonal Psychology perspective, to guide them into the window of their souls, choices, and their connection to all creations in the Universe as divine. This is an Apache healing art form of counseling, and the study of culture as art and science.; This legend is to facilitate love as the therapeutic healing of the body, mind, heart and spirit. If the snake can become a teacher of goodness and self-love, then an Apache methodology and myth has earned its reward, and a Living Legend awakes from the dust to be viewed on film as an Apache heart way, a place of emergence.
