Abstract/Summary:
Based on the fact that housewives in their thirties and forties experienced a lot more stress than any other people in the church, the researcher developed a biblical method of positive stress management for housewives in their thirties and forties since active stress management would not only positively influence their physical health, but also their families and the church as well. The purpose of this research was to explore positive stress management methods for housewives in their stressful environment through increasing their spiritual capacity through Bible study, healing their wounded hearts by listening to the word of God, and discussing stresses of biblical characters and studying how they managed them.;For the above purpose, the following four hypotheses were established. First, after the spiritual training, the housewives would have a positive interpretation of the problems that cause stress due to increased spiritual capacity and, further, they would increase their ability to solve problems actively instead of avoiding them or struggling with them. Second, the housewives would increase their ability to view problems with a positive attitude after the spiritual training.;Third, the housewives would take the initiative and use all possible social supports to solve their problems after the spiritual training. Fourth, the church involvement and spiritual lives of the housewives would be more active after the spiritual training.;For the research, an announcement was made two weeks prior to the training, targeting housewives in their thirties and forties, within the Yehyang Church. Ten people for the Treatment Group and ten people for the Control Group were selected. A questionnaire, with sixty-two questions on stress management, was developed and utilized as both the Pretest and the Posttest. The Pretest was administered to the two different groups, and the Posttest was given again after ten weeks of training.;The spiritual training was given to the ten people in the Treatment Group for an hour and a half every week for ten weeks. The spiritual training consisted of: forty minutes of Bible study, thirty minutes of discussion on stress, and twenty minutes of listening to the Bible verses selected for emotional peace. The hypotheses were proven and interpreted based on the evaluation of the questionnaire, which was basically divided into four main causes, collected from the Pretest and the Posttest after the ten weeks of spiritual training, the researcher's observation journal, the participants' testimonies, and the counseling journal.;All of the hypotheses were proven to be true.
