What Is Art For?

"What is art for ?"A complex question about the vaules of art.This thesis approaches this subject from two angles, one is the art is for expressing artist's emotion, the other is for influence on reality, which is usd by two grounds of argument, the art of Chinese intelligentsia as well as Chinese contemporary woodcut. In the course of contrasting two aspects,the auther attempts to find the common understanding between them as the criterion of the great art, and advances his own views on this question.
