Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this paper was to conduct a comprehensive literature review in order to compile a list of subjective outcome measures and functional assessment tools for use with pediatric patients. As a result of the review, 14 tools were identified that were thought to be appropriate for inclusion. The tools were divided into those appropriate for three different age groups: infant-toddler measures, school-age measures, and adolescent measures. The following information was then collected for each tool when available: (1) a general description of the tool, (2) validation information, (3) appropriate uses; (4) how the tool is administered and the time taken to complete the tool; (5) categorization of the tool (e.g., parent or teacher questionnaire); (6) what information the tool provides; and (7) where the tool can be obtained. This compilation of subjective outcome measures and functional measurement tools will be used by pediatric audiologists working with infants and young children with hearing loss.
