| This work introduces a new concept to control a buck-boost DC to DC converter. Optimal control techniques which are normally only applied to linear systems are applied to a nonlinear buck-boost DC to DC converter. The technique continuously recalculates an appropriate optimal controller. In addition, a new technique for modeling the buck-boost DC to DC converter is developed. Also, a technique where the controller sets a priority in controlling the manipulation rather the output of the system is developed. Multiple simulations are run for the various stages of the development of the controller. Also a simulation of a tuned PID controller is applied to the buck-boost DC to DC converter is presented for comparison. |
