Abstract/Summary:
A novel reconfigurable control hardware architecture is proposed and implemented for power management and distribution (PMAD) systems, where the reconfigurable analog circuit is integrated with the reconfigurable digital circuit. This provides a highly modular digital control platform, which could greatly reduce the integration cost and increase the system reliability in future spacecraft developments. The digital logic design offers great flexibilities in implementing the control algorithms using several methods based on the computation needs or the task requirements. The analog circuit can be reconfigured on the fly for various characteristics of different PMAD devices. With the digitally controlled reconfigurable analog circuit, the automatic bandwidth adjustment is achieved in signal conditioning. Based on the new design, a custom made ten-layer compact control module has been successfully implemented and tested.
