Community capacity can be defined as the characteristics of a community that enables it to mobilize, identify, and solve community problems. The present study will examine data collected from an evaluation of a community based organization that took part in the Children Youth Community Health Initiative funded by The California Wellness Foundation. Data for the present study was collected over a three-year period. The study will examine the phenomenon of capacity building from a community psychology or a contextual perspective. Concepts of social network analysis, community psychology, and community capacity building will be reviewed in the literature. Results support how Social Network Analysis can be used as a tool to measure capacity building. |
