Abstract/Summary:
Managers who utilize Computer Facilitated Communication Systems (CFCS) to search for technologically-based information were found to have a significantly higher decision-making performance and overall job performance. CFCS connect managers to human and reference contacts inside and outside organizational and traditional geographical boundaries. Managers utilize CFCS to exchange technological information with these contacts developing a learning orientation that extends beyond organizational boundaries to find information that is valuable for their decision-making performance and job performance. Analysis of the questionnaire-based data employing PLS methodology found the impact of CFCS to be highly statistically significant. The moderating influences of strategic posture and the organizational factor of decision-making responsibility are also considered and found to be both significant and revealing.
