Research has shown that copy-and-paste encoding negatively influences learning outcomes. Over 120 undergraduate students on three college campuses participated in the project. The experiment explored the benefit of study-time in this negatively influenced encoding environment. Effects and interactions between encoding method, copy-and-paste or traditional, and study-time, zero or five minutes were examined. Previous research concerning the negative influence of copy-and-paste encoding was validated during the initial analysis. Five minutes of study-time produced a negative influence for traditional encoders and minimal benefit for participants utilizing copy-and-paste encoding methods. P values established that the effect and interaction between these variables was not statistically valid. | Keywords/Search Tags: | Encoding, Storage activity, Benefit, Study-time | | Related items |
