Abstract/Summary:
This study explored participatory instructional design in a sophomore-level college computer science Java programming course. In an effort to facilitate student involvement in the instructional design process, an instructional design model was enhanced by integrating participatory agile software engineering methods. The model was used to investigate students' perceptions of a participatory design learning experience. Participants indicated high levels of perceived learning, motivation, and satisfaction with their experience. These results support a foundation for the dialog on the usefulness of participatory instructional design as an effective learning strategy and classroom practice.
