Abstract/Summary:
"Defining and Managing a Denominational Economy: An Investigation of a Conceptual Model" develops Grounded Theory and initial displays of a conceptual model for how a denomination's economy might be defined and then managed. Literature in franchise theory, the intersection between religion and economics, and the funding of religion are analyzed to make the case that such a model would be useful, and to demonstrate that such a model has not been previously developed. After developing the conceptual model, data sets from three North American denominations were used to create an initial display of the conceptual model in real world situations. These displays were then showed to varied denominational officials to understand their initial response as to the model's usefulness for their respective denominations, especially when working collaboratively with their denominational partners. The findings are analyzed and future areas of study are identified.
