Abstract/Summary:
Since its inception in 1992, the graphical user interface of the World Wide Web (WWW) has enhanced Internet usability by human interface that makes it easier for people to navigate many areas of the Internet. More recently, while numerous improvements and enhancements have since improved user interaction, the next generation of the World Wide Web, the Semantic Web is targeted at the objective to enhance communication among machines. Specifically, the Semantic Web aims at presenting data in a form that can be processed by machines to improve the machine-to-machine communication and to automate communication among heterogeneous systems and organizations. This study investigates the tools and technologies needed to build enterprise applications for the Semantic Web as well as all the needed training to build such applications. Specifically, the dissertation consisted of building and testing a prototype application to examine the available tools and technologies to build enterprise applications for the Semantic Web.
