Abstract/Summary: | |
The purpose of this study is to learn more about inmate behavior and functioning within a correctional setting. This research will facilitate the development of a corrections-specific global assessment of functioning tool. Participation in this research will be twofold. First, researchers will employ focus groups as a means of gaining clarity on ways different disciplines within the prison system perceive inmate behaviors and functioning. Focus group feedback will facilitate the development of the Correctional Global Assessment of Functioning Scale (CGAF). Subsequently, a pilot study will be conducted to test the newly developed CGAF within one correctional facility to assess the feasibility of a full-scale or statewide implementation of the assessment tool. |
