An Acculturation Study On The Interpersonal Communication Of Contemporary College Students From The Perspective Of Confucian Culture

All social relationships are attributed to man,and human beings have been inseparable from social interpersonal contacts since birth.Communication is not only a living condition of a person,but also a basic survival skill.Interpersonal communication activities always take place in a certain time and space,therefore interpersonal communication have been deeply influenced,edified and enlightened by the social and cultural environment of these objective conditions.The environment not only affects the content of interpersonal communication,but also determines its form to a certain extent.At present,China is undergoing a period of social transformation.Economic and information globalization has brought about drastic changes in the socio-political,economic,and cultural fields.Diversified ideas and values have also had a profound impact on higher educational philosophy and the communication concept of college students,among whom interpersonal problems exist universally both in real and virtual online communication,and they are confused about how to create harmonious interpersonal relationships,which even leads to some extremely serious happenings.Therefore,contemporary college students’ interpersonal communication is closely related to their growth and success.In this paper,communication,interpersonal communication,Marx and Habermas’ theory of interpersonal communication,acculturation and its essence are explained in detail.As for interpersonal communication of contemporary college students,an elaborate analysis has been given to its present situation,toits influence exerted by Confucian culture,to the existing problems of its acculturation,particularly to the highlighted problem of "lack of love",and to the reasons for the lack of it and its acculturation through social empirical investigations.Confucian culture is the core of Chinese tradition culture.Excellent traditional Confucian culture has a broad and profound ideological connotation."Thousands of words are delivered by the Sages only to teach people how to behave." What kind of essence of interpersonal communication is contained in the traditional Confucian culture? What are the contemporary values of it to the acculturation? What are the ideas,principles and approaches of modern college students’ interpersonal acculturation from the perspective of Confucian culture? By sublating and transcending the traditional Confucian culture,this paper advances its outstanding ideological essence with the times,and combines it with the new era to realize its creative transformation and innovative development,and to serve college students’ interpersonal acculturation.We should explore the "human nature" contained in outstanding Confucian culture,including family affection,love,friendship,"fraternity" and patriotism,as well as the feelings of "Great Harmony" to build a community of shared destiny for mankind.We should sum up the Confucian views of human feelings,such as the principle of loyalty and forgiveness,putting oneself in the place of another,the principle of feeling for others with heart and so on.This paper highlights the Confucian idea of appreciating human sentiment in interpersonal communication,and refines and follows theconcept of respect and care,benevolence and tolerance,rationality and moderation,courtesy and trustworthiness,and other major principles of interpersonal acculturation of contemporary college students.The acculturation of interpersonal communication among college students,from the perspective of Confucian culture,can be built by forging a harmonious group campus culture,by creating a humane campus culture atmosphere,and by strengthening the guidance of network media with positive energy;we can acculturate college students’ interpersonal communication in an all-round way through valuing psychological counseling,through taking classroom teaching as its main place,and through designing a colorful dormitory and academic culture;we can strengthen students’ interpersonal social caring ability by creating emotional interactive platforms for their enterprise internship,by setting up non-profit organizations to foster their care for others’ emotions;we can also improve their introspective quality,reinforce their interpersonal communication ability,lay great importance to learning from classics and do what we should in the here and now,form good habits,value friendship and be kind-hearted to improve their minds and their abilities in order to realize their own practical training in interpersonal communication;we should give full play to the ideological and political education functions of excellent traditional Confucian culture in teaching and educating people,acculturating college students to value their feelings and loyalty,so as to build a harmonious relationship and to realize the harmonious interpersonal communication among collegeof Youth China,and for cultivating new talents of the age who can take on the great responsibilities of rejuvenating Chinese nation with our endeavor.
