An Empirical Research On The Influence Of Tutor Status On The Profession Growth Of Science Researchers In China

The establishment of a perfect science research management system is a systematic project,which should require continuous interdisciplinary,cross-field and cross-departmental collaborative research and exploration,in order to contiuously promote the modernization of science research management system and management capacity.In view of this,the research will focus on the cross research field of science research mentoring relationship,and use the pros growth data of the recipients of national natural science foundation of China duiring the period of 2012-2016 to mainly discuss the differential influences of doctoral tutor status on the profession growth of his science research disciples.On the basis of these discoveries,some counter-measures and suggestions will be proposed to promote the profession growth of science researchers and improve the science research management system.The main contents of this research are as follow:First,this research elaborates the background,research significance,concept definition and the main innovation points in detail,and through the arrangement and elaboration of relevant research literature and theoretical basis,we can futher clarify the main direction of research and the machanism of action of tutor status on the profession growth of science researchers.This lays a theoretical and empirical foundation for the smooth development of the research.In the meanwhile,on the basis of the above research contents,the research also conducts the necessary quantitative analysis preparation work:data cleaning,concept measurement,hypothesis proposal and model selection,which futher provides data and method support for the research.Second,taking the recipients of national natural science foundation of Chna as an example,the research analyses the overall situation and characteristics of the profession growth of science researchers and draws the following four conclusions:(1)It is the most difficult for science researchers to achieve the promotion of department-level management positions within the organization,followed by the achievement of event-based profession growth outside the organization,and the least difficult to achieve the promotion of science research titles within the organization.In addition,the profession growth process of science researchers has the obvious characteristic of "Officialdom is the natural outlet for good scholars".(2)The performance-based profession growth of science researchers has obvious unbalanced distribution characteristics and the distribution law conforms to the famous Pareto law.(3)The proportion stucture and speed condition of science researchers' event-based profession growth have different distribution characteristics in the dimensions of population factor,education background and work experience.(4)There are significant diffrences in the quantitative distribution of science researchers' performance-based profession growth in the dimensions of population factor,educational background and work experience.Besides,the existence of its unbalanced distribution characteristic is universal,which will not disappear with the transition of the analysis of the characteristic analysis dimensions.Third,in this research,statistical modeling is adopted to focus on the influence of academic status,administrative status and status type of tutor on the profession growth of science researchers,and the following conclusions are drawn:(1)In terms of event-based profession growth for science researchers,both the academic status and the administrative status of the tutor have a significant positive impact on the event-based profession growth of scientific researchers,such as promotion to senior titles,achievement of scientific and technological awards at or above the provincial or ministerial level.At the same time,the tutor's academic status will play a positive role in promoting the science researchers to be selected into the talent plan of provincial or ministerial level and above;the tutor's administrative status will also have a positive influence on the promotion to management position of department level and the acquirement of academic part-time jobs.Under the influence of the dimensions of tutor status,the type of tutor status will also have certain influence on the above event-based profession growth dimension.In general,in the influence of the tutor status on the event-based career development of science researchers,the academic status and the administrative status of tutor are equal to each other.Moreover,the higher the level of mentor status,the greater the possibility for science researchers to achieve event-based profession growth.(2)In terms of performance-based profession growth for science researchers.First,The influence of academic status,administrative status and type of tutor status on the academic output of science researchers is not significant on the whole,but tutor status and its type will positively improve the academic output level of researchers through the corresponding event-based profession growth variables.In other words,the influence of tutor status and its type on the academic output of researchers is mainly realized through an indirect path.Second,the academic status,administrative status and type of tutor status all have a direct positive impact on the annual average science research fund quantity.It also has an indirect positive effect on the annual average science research fund through the corresponding variables of event-based profession growth.In other words,the influence of tutor status and its type on the amount of research funds of researchers has two direct and indirect paths,and the influence of tutor academic status is relatively stronger.Finally,based on the understanding of the characteristics of the profession growth of science researhers and that of the important role that tutor plays in the process of profession growth of science researchers.The research puts forward the measures and suggestions on promoting the profession growth of science researchers and optimizing the science research management system from the perspectives of individual science researcher,science research institution and national scientific research system,and explains the limitations of the research and the possible research direction in the future.
