In the construction of socialist modernization of China,unprecedented importance has been attached to the values and roles of people.As an important component of education,school P.E.plays a unique role in the process of developing the modern people.Not only can it improve the physical fitness of the whole nation,but also improve the people's spiritual health as well as their social adaptability.Nevertheless,the development of school P.E.is confronted with various predicaments,deviating from its value orientation and original purpose of educating,thus degrading from the role of meeting with purpose to the role of being an instrument.With regard to this deviation,my research proposes that the value orientation in the school P.E.should base itself on the factor of people in making educational policies and in the P.E.practice.It's ultimate goal is to concern for the students,lives and living styles and develop "the whole people".My research is in the following steps:analyses of theories,reviews of history,surveys of present situation,pursuits of the right education value orientation,and the orientation of realization.Based on the developing trends and current crises of the world,the introduction states the purpose as well as the significance of the current research.The first chapter explains what school P.E.value orientation is and provides theoretical bases regarding values and value orientation,educational value and educational orientation,sports,and school P.E.The second chapter presents a survey of the history of school P.E..Through the survey of the history of the P.E.development and value orientation in China and in the western countries,this chapter summarizes the characteristics of P.E.development,and the evolution of value orientation.This research deals with the situation respectively in the ancient,modern and contemporary times,and discovers that due to the different cultures,the evolution of P.E.and educational value orientation in China and the western countries are completely different.China's school P.E.lays more emphasis on the society,and on the intellectual pursuits over physical strength,while school P.E.of the western countries attaches more importance to the individual development,emphasizing the idea that "A sound mind in a sound body".The third chapter examines the current situation of value orientation in school P.E.in China.Through the all-round analysis of the teaching purposes,content,process and position of school P.E.,this research holds that the deviation from the correct value orientation of school P.E.is mainly demonstrated in the difference of social values and individual values,scientism and humanism,rationalism and irrationalism.The root of the deviation from the correct value orientation is attributed to the influences of the consequence caused by modernism,body-mental dualism,traditional values of regarding nation as the foremost factor,and utilitarian values.My research holds that with regard to the deviation in the value orientation in school P.E.,traditional values based on the nation-foremost idea reflect the cultural source;utilitarian values putting emphases on practicability,result and technology reflect the realistic source;body-mental dualism which separates body from spirit reflect the ideological source;the development of modernization which neglects the importance of people in school P.E.reflects the social source.The fourth chapter expatiates on the theoretical studies of P.E.value orientation in contemporary school P.E.,including analysis of theoretical construction,connotations and constructing basis for the right value orientation in school P.E..This research puts forward that the value orientation in school P.E.should be based on people,taking people as the center of school P.E.,putting people's life in the first place,cultivating people's subjectivity,individuality,personality and completeness.The research proposes that the major foundation of the making of value orientation in school P.E.is the recurring emphasis of the human body,the returning of humanity,the relationship of body and mind,and the reawakening of personal subjective consciousness.The prerequisites of realizing the value orientation in school P.E.are to promote the development the students.The fifth chapter concerns itself with the strategies of construction value orientation of school RE.The research holds that the right value orientation should emphasize human factor,redefine value concepts,reconstruct teaching objectives from various perspectives,redefine educational viewpoints on the basis of the growth of the people,enrich the content of school P.E.,develop the students'individuality,reconstruct the evaluation system,reform the teacher training programs so as tocultivate new,liberal and professional P.E.teachers.
