Xinjiang is a complex region with multi-ethnic peoples and diversified culture.In this land,the issues such as the phenomenon of harmonious symbiosis among multi-ethnic groups,the forms of ethnic relations,the diversity of ethnic culture,the characteristics of the development of the national economy,and the differentiation of multi-ethnic belief space provide a wide range of current anthropological analysis and discussion.Xinjiang’s special human and geographical environment,the distribution pattern of multi-ethnic people,the existence of multiple religions,the development of multiple economic types,the long-term maintenance of different production and lifestyles,the use of different languages,and the characteristics of different art and cultures,customs,etc.completely conveyed the richness of Xinjiang society.Observing the social history of Xinjiang,we can know that it is a history of the migration,mobility and integration of multi-ethnic groups.It is also the history development of multi-ethnic group building home.Hui Minority of Zhang Jiachuan who have been moving to Xinjiang since The reign of Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty until today.As a result of their long time living in Xinjiang,early immigrants lived in a similar way to the native Hui Minority in Xinjiang.In addition,they absorbed some local customs of Uygur,Kazakh and Mongolians,while retained the cultural tradition of emigration.As time went on,they gradually adapted and integrated into the local community and became a part of the native Hui minority in Xinjiang.Though the Hui Minority of Zhangjiachuan immigrants in Xinjiang who have the above-mentioned characteristics during the Republic of China.In terms of their identity conception,they gradually regarded themselves as "Borderline People".Before and after the 1960s,the largest number of people moved into Xinjiang by spontaneous migration.No matter how long they move into Xinjiang,this group carries multiple cultural characteristics in the process of historical change.this is a product of adapting actively to the multi-ethnic society and culture by Hui-Muslims It is also the sub-group of the Hui people in Xinjiang.The social phenomenon of "going to Xinjiang" is a historical issue as well as a subject of great practical significance.I take the Zhangjiachuan Hui immigrants who relocated to the Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture of Xinjiang as my research subject.I have conducted field investigation in various parts of Xinjiang and collected a large collection of first hand information since March 2016.My dissertation uses multi-discipline research methods,such as history,ethnology and anthropology,analyzing the history of the migration,living status,social communication,marriage and family,and belief space of Zhangjiachuan Hui immigrants in multiple fields,such as Tuoqiwen and Boerqi villages in Yining county,9th company of 64th Corps in Xinjiang,Second Village of Mohor Ranch in Horgos City and Yiche village in Qapqal Xibo Autonomous County.On this basis,i try to summarize the characteristics,types,significance of their moving and the state of the community formed in the integration process in Xinjiang.Meanwhile,i review the cultural adaptation of the group in the process of localization and their strategy and significance,then discussing the group’s sharing and reconstruction of public space,their interaction with the local multi-ethnic groups,the construction of social networks,and the frontier society in their eyes.In the end,i reflect on multi-ethnographic research methods which based on my field-work.In addition to the introduction part,the dissertation is divided into seven parts.According to the characteristics of the structure of the dissertation,it can be divided into four parts.First chapter is first part,under the premise of the limited text information,i use time as links combing the historical process of Zhangjiachuan Hui-minority who emigrated to Xinjiang since the Qing Dynasty.The history of Zhangjiachuan Hui immigrants to Xinjiang can be divided into three periods,starting from Qing Dynasty,Republic of China,1949 until now.The group migrated to Xinjiang for different reasons in different historical periods.The history of migration is also life cycle of the Hui Minority of Zhangjiachuan.Moreover,it is the social history constructed by the historical memory of the group.Second part namely is second chapter,it is the diversity and richness of Ili region from which my investigation and analysis of multiple fields points.This chapter is guided by the field investigation and the current situation.Discussing the general situation,the route of migration,the distribution,the type of economy and religious belief and other contents.The third part,from third chapter to sixth chapter,mainly discusses the existence of Zhangjiachuan Hui immigrants from different field points.From the field points i discuss basic profile,population,migration history,economic life,political participation,religious life,leisure life,religious communities,social contacts,marriage and family,etc..Fourth part,namely is the seventh chapter,based on the previous discourse.From the perspective of theory and reality,I reflect on the characteristic and types of Zhangjiachuan Hui immigrants who migrated to Xinjiang and theoretical and practical significance of the migration to the study of Hui-minority in China.I analyse the community pattern formed by the group in the settlements of the migrated land.Though comparing cultural adaptation and identity of Zhangj iachuan Hui-minority under the multiple boundaries.I try to analyse their inter ethnic interaction with local people in Xinjiang,other Hui minority,Uygur,Kazakh,Han,other ethnic groups and the religious intercourse situation of the group under the diversified condition and sects of faith.We should reflect the influence of modernization on the immigrants and the understanding to the frontier society of the Zhangjiachuan Hui minority as a diaspora group.Then it reflects on the Oral History and Multi-Sited Ethnography Methods used in this study.Through the study of problems mentioned above,we can understand the regional population on the rules,characteristic,cultural changes etc.and well understand the frontier(borderland)through a small group,providing enlightenment and reference for the current economic development,social stability and frontier security.The epilogue summarizes the practical significance of the Hui-immigrants in Zhangjiachuan County,reflectsln the epilogue,it is believed that as a small geographical group—the Hui nationality of Zhangjiachuan who immigrated to Yili District,whose truly migration story is a record about the process of multi-ethics of China’ s frontiers,and it is also a history of the development of a multi-ethnic country.
