The Han Dynasty pottery is ordinary in texture,large in quantity,small in number of characters on pottery,and non-three generations of ancient writing,so it has not received due attention.The pottery materials of the Han Dynasty are scattered in various newspapers and books,and it is difficult to see the whole picture.Relevant research is also weak.This paper makes a comprehensive collection and arrangement of the materials of pottery in Han Dynasty other than brick,tile and seal clay.The full text is divided into two parts:the upper part and the lower part.Researches on pottery inscriptions of Han Dynasty are in the upper part.Firstly,arranging the data of pottery inscriptions in Han Dynasty.The data are sorted out to clarify the scope and location of its distribution,and the carrier and content are classified in order to understand the general appearance of the pottery inscriptions in Han Dynasty and lay a foundation for further research.Secondly,interpreting and revising the pottery inscriptions.Most of the words on pottery of the Han Dynasty were a few,and some were only one or two words.Besides of that,most of the writers were folk calligraphers.The writing was not standardized,which did not attract people's attention.These pottery inscriptions are interpreted and revised in this paper.Thirdly,analyzing the characters.The evolution of characters is classified and analyzed,and the phenomena of writing and using characters are investigated.Finally,analyzing the times characteristic of the pottery inscriptions.The pottery inscriptions are divided into three periods:the Western Han Dynasty,the Xin Dynasty,and the Eastern Han Dynasty.The distribution,carrier and content of each period are sorted out,and the characteristics of each period are summarized.The lower part is the character collection.The text rubbings,photos or copies are scanned,cut and compiled into The Collection of Pottery Inscriptions of Han Dynasty,which is divided into three parts:the original words,He Wen and the appendix.The part of the original words is divided into 14 volumes,arranged in the order of Xu shen's book Shuo Wen Jie Zi.Glyphs which are not included in Shuo Wen Jie Zi,would be attached to the corresponding parts according to the radicals,and marked with "*" in the upper right corner of the font head.Each glyph is arranged in the order of the Western Han Dynasty,the Xin Dynasty and the Eastern Han Dynasty.In the same era words are arranged in the general order of the early,middle and late stages.Characters which can not be staged are listed in the later stages of this era.Words which only are identified for the Han Dynasty are listed at the end of this word.The combined words are collected in the part of the He Wen.The unrecognized words and Taoist symbols on pottery bottles(jar)with red writings are contained in the appendix.
